It took a while (life got in the way for a bit) but I packed up our first box of blankets/hats and am mailing them off to the hospital tomorrow morning. I spoke to the hospital staff to double check shipping information, and they were very excited to hear that there was this giant box of hand made goods coming to warm their NICU patients and families. Attached to the bundle, is a note explaining that we stitched these items in loving memory of Vincent, showing support his family, and to show love for the children in their care currently. Here’s what they’ll be receiving:
Please keep stitching! There are a few projects still in the works out there, and I hope to see them soon. Otherwise, if you are interested in donating contact me at stitchitpodcast {at} gmail {dot} com
I wanted to post this seperately, because it is very special. Vincent’s family has something to say:
“We just wanted to thank everyone who has contributed to Knitting for Vincent. It has been a very difficult couple of months, but seeing everyone reach out, many being people we have never met, has touched us so much and has helped lessen our pain. We are moving forward and seeing the amazing things that have been knitted and knowing that they will help other sick babies is so comforting. Although Vincent was only on this earth for a short time, he obviously made such an impact and touched so many lives. The beauty of Knitting for Vincent is that he will continue to effect other people as long as you continue knitting and we can’t think of a better way to honor him. Thank you again. Your dedication and acts of love and kindness has helped our family tremendously.
Love, Jen, Luke and Benjamin”
and i have more goodies to post! I’m sorry I haven’t been keeping up on this as closely as I should have been, but life has been a little insane here for the past month or so. Vacation complete and traveling for work accomplished, i’m ready to start anew!
SO! down to the goodies!
I have a blanket that my dear friend Threesmom sent me forever ago, but i neglected to post until now! a beautiful blue and white blanket knit by hand.

Next up is an adorable hat and a BEAUTIFULLY crocheted blanket made by one of Vincent’s mom’s friends. Unfortunately….I don’t have her name. Once again, Owen harnessed his squirrel skills and hid the card that came with the blanket somewhere. He had it, went into the other room, and came back with nothing….I swear that toddlers find all of the black holes in your house by the age of two….anyway, i’ll see if they can get me that name again.
SO, here are the goodies! a hand crocheted fan pattern blanket:

and finally, yesterday i received another box from Cheley, who keeps sending such wonderful goodies! love it!
here’s the new batch including fleece hats, booties, bonnets, and little baby hats. cute!

check out those new tally’s!!! AMAZING work!
whew! got the camera up and running again, and i was finally able to click some pictures of things sent to me a while ago (i’ve been busy!).
anyway,
here is the little cute crocheted hat that owen had run away with. so cute. so sweet. and very close to being on a cute baby’s head! if the person who sent it would leave a comment or email me, i’ll give you all of the kudos you deserve!

she also sent this beautiful hand knit checkerboard patterned baby blanket. (no flash was used so you can see the pattern better)

aren’t those perty?!
i have a HUGE box/bag of blankets and hats now. our tally is going up and up. i didn’t put a time line on this project, and i know people are still working on things out there. i also will be meeting with my knitting group saturday, and i hope that some of them might have created some more handmade baby goodies to share!
i think it’s getting to the point now that i have TOO many things to box up and ship (at a reasonable price) so i might plan to make a trip to go downtown and donate these items in person. i’ll see if Vincent’s family would be up for that trip with me. we’ll work on that.
until then?
i’m off to add 1 more blanket and 3 more hats to the tally!!!!
okay, so now my camera doesn’t want to cooperate with me. i’m going to see if i can get ry to offer some tech support tonight. i have a couple hats and a blanket to photograph and i found a cute little white/pink crocheted hat that owen ran off with without me knowing. he had it hidden in his grocery cart he pushes around the house! haha. i’ll have to post pictures of it, and hope someone steps forward to claim they made it, because i’m not sure who did. he snatched it out of the package without me realizing it.
so hopefully pictures will be posted tonight.
keep those fingers crossed!
i’ve been bad about posting. started a new job a couple weeks ago and it’s sucking my will to live! well…it’s taking all of my free time up.
anyway,
i have more blankets and hats to post. i’ll take pictures this afternoon and try to get them up ASAP!
more projects are still brewing!
i don’t even know where to begin there is just SO much stuff here!
so i’m going to get started! lots of photos! LOTS of photos this post!

i need one of these helicopter hats myself!

lestrella also made adorable little labels for each of her items, with our web logo, and saying it was made by hand in memory of Vincent.SO thoughtful!!
SO WOW!!!!
that makes 8 hats and 11 blankets to add to the tally!
bringing the grand totals up to 28 hats and 23 blankets!
i’ve gotten TONS of goodies. life has been a little crazy in the past couple weeks, but hopefully we’re going to be heading for a smooth patch here. i’m hoping to do a HUGE photo shoot, update the site with pictures, and update the count. i’ve added a couple more volunteers to the list as well.WONDERFUL! stay tuned!
it’s still overwhelming to me how many people are stepping forward (and stepping up) and donating their time and efforts for Vincent. i can’t tell you all how happy and proud this makes me feel. the long list of volunteers on the right, and the growing list of donations (20 hats & 12 blankets) is just so wonderful, it makes me glow.
it also makes me extremely happy knowing people are donating more then just one item each, and there are others who are out there working on projects right this second! some of them learning new techniques specifically to donate something in Vincent’s name. you are all wonderful people!
SO LETS GET LOOKING AT SOME PROJECTS!!!
First up, is a wonderful box of goodies that i got from Marleta. there is a cute little handknit hat in a multicolored yarn.

a super soft granny square blanket![]()

Today when i got to work, there were some more goodies waiting for me (i’m telling you, i trained up these people so well! they are quite a productive bunch!) first up, is Warner’s crochet shell blanket. it’s lavender with a forest green border. it’s really gorgeous in person. reminds me of watermelon kinda
![]()
next, a very excited Susan showed me the blanket she finished. susan learned how to crochet just last week specifically so she could make a blanket for this project. i’m so proud!

mary and jenny were busy making hats again this weekend, so here are some samples of the fruits of their labor!

and jenny even made a cute little set![]()
today i checked my email, and i had 4 new volunteers, and i got an email from cynaminbear who has 5 blankets she’s getting ready to send up.
